Accept contactless card payments directly on your iPhone — no card reader hardware needed. Tap to Pay is built into the Aestheticc iOS app and uses Stripe Terminal.

What It Supports

  • Contactless cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex)
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay
  • Chip and PIN cards (where contactless limit is exceeded)

Minimum payment: £1.00.

Requirements

  • Stripe account connected (see Stripe Setup)
  • Aestheticc app on an iPhone running iOS 18 or later (iPad is not supported)
  • Active internet connection at point of sale

Setting Up

In the Aestheticc app, go to Settings → Tap to Pay on iPhone and press Set up Tap to Pay on iPhone. Accept Apple's terms when they appear, then follow Apple's short guide on how to take a payment. The screen shows Tap to Pay on iPhone is set up. when your iPhone is ready.

You can reopen Apple's guide at any time from the same screen with How to use Tap to Pay on iPhone.

Taking a Payment

  1. Go to Point of Sale → Checkout and add the client and the treatments or products. Or open an appointment and press Take Payment: checkout opens with the client and treatment already in the basket, so add only extras.
  2. Check the basket and the total.
  3. Under Payment Method, choose Tap to Pay on iPhone. It is listed first.
  4. Press the green Tap to Pay on iPhone button.
  5. Ask the client to hold their card, phone or watch near the top of your iPhone.
  6. When Payment approved shows, press Email receipt or Text receipt if the client wants one.
  7. Press the Take £… button, which shows the amount and your clinic's name, to finish the sale. If you work across more than one clinic, a Confirm clinic window opens: press the same Take £… button in it.

The sale appears in the client's payment history and updates the appointment balance.

How It Works

Tap to Pay uses Stripe Terminal with direct charges on your connected Stripe account. Key details:

  • Card data never touches Aestheticc servers — processed directly by Stripe (PCI compliant)
  • Deterministic idempotency keys — if the network drops mid-payment and the app retries, Stripe returns the original payment intent rather than creating a duplicate charge
  • The 5-minute idempotency window means rapid retries are safe, but a fresh attempt after a timeout gets a new intent

Fees

The 2% platform fee covers Aestheticc's cut. Stripe charges its standard card-present rate on top (typically lower than card-not-present rates).

Payouts go to your business bank account on Stripe's standard payout schedule.
