Payments & Billing

Aestheticc supports three ways to collect and record payments: card payments via Stripe, Direct Debit via GoCardless, and manual recording of cash or bank transfers.

Payment Methods

| Method | Best For | Fee | |--------|----------|-----| | Stripe card | In-person tap-to-pay, online checkout, payment links, deposits | 2% platform fee + Stripe's card rate | | GoCardless Direct Debit | Recurring membership billing | ~1% platform fee | | Cash / bank transfer | Walk-in payments you want tracked in the system | No fee |

How Stripe Connect Works

You connect your own Stripe account — not a shared merchant account. This means:

  • Payouts go directly to your business bank account
  • You control your Stripe dashboard and dispute resolution
  • Aestheticc takes a 2% platform fee on each transaction (capped at £50)
  • Stripe's standard card processing fees apply on top

Stripe Express accounts are used, which handles identity verification and compliance automatically.

Required for: card reader (Tap to Pay), payment links, online checkout, deposits.

How GoCardless Direct Debit Works

GoCardless handles UK Direct Debit for recurring membership payments. Clients authorise a mandate once; you collect automatically each month.

Lower fees than card payments and more reliable — clients can't accidentally cancel by losing or replacing a card.

Required for: membership subscriptions.

Manual Payment Recording

Record cash and bank transfer payments directly against client records. They appear in payment history alongside card payments and update appointment balances.

No Stripe account needed for this.
